Selected artwork by Master Printmaker, Etcher and Artist John Melville Kelly, often referred to as "Hawaii's Gauguin," is currently on display at the Manoa Public Library through November 2013. The exhibit is located in the Main Lobby as well as in the Library.
Kelly has been called a legend in the island art world, and his artistic style has been compared to that of Paul Gauguin, a leading Post-Impressionist painter. His work is widely regarded as exceptionally skilled in composition as well as technique, and is on display in museums throughout the United States. Kelly's art depicts the lives and culture of the people of Hawaii from the late 1920s through the early 1960s.
This exhibit is suitable for all ages and available for viewing when the Library is open.
