Books for Teachers

The Books for Teachers program has been a part of the Friends of the Library of Hawai‘i (FLH) Annual Booksale for more than ten years through ongoing grants from The Renee B. Fisher Foundation.

We are excited to continue this program during the Annual Booksale on June 17 – 25, 2024.

140 public school teachers from Title 1 schools in the McKinley – Farrington – Kaimuki complex areas will be invited to the 75th FLH Annual Sale a to choose books to build classroom libraries for their students.

The book sale stocks books in 80 categories and any book or media may be purchased with the books for teachers voucher.

Due to limited funding, the first 5 teachers from each school will be confirmed on a first come, first served basis. Additional teachers from each school will be placed on a waitlist. There are enough funds and book inventory to support 140 classrooms. Twenty-Nine (29) schools were chosen to participate based off of their Title I percentage of students in need. Please see the list below.

Teachers should bring reusable bags/boxes for their books. Eligible teachers can register here.*
