Kraft Donates $15,000 to Friends of the Library of Hawaii

KRAFT FOODS GROUP IN HAWAII AND LONGS DRUGS “HELP LITERACY SHINE” IS A HUGE SUCCESS!

**Kraft Donates $15,000 to Friends of the Library of Hawaii**

HONOLULU, HI (March 25, 2013) – On Tuesday, March 19, 2013, Kraft Foods Group in Hawaii presented the Friends of the Library of Hawaii with a check for $15,000 from its “Help Literacy Shine in Hawaii” program with Longs Drugs.  Longs Drugs has served Hawaii customers for over 60 years and currently has 52 drug stores throughout the Hawaiian Islands.  Longs Drugs is part of CVS Caremark, a pharmacy innovation company that is helping people on their path to better health.

Between February 3 and March 2, 2013, Longs Drugs and Kraft donated 10 cents for every Kraft product purchased to the Friends of the Library of Hawaii, up to $10,000. Due to the overwhelming response from shoppers, the final donation was increased to $15,000.

“Illiteracy is a huge problem in Hawaii and we were so pleased to partner with Longs Drugs to be able to support the Friends of the Library of Hawaii and the work that they do to promote literacy among Hawaii’s schoolchildren, families and adults,” said Gerald Shintaku, CBL for Kraft. “The community really did their part and it was important to us to acknowledge this by increasing our final donation to $15,000.”

Founded in 1879, the Friends of the Library of Hawaii promotes literacy by supporting Hawaii’s 50 public libraries, making books and reading accessible to everyone.
