Waimanalo Public & School Library Celebrates 35th Anniversary

Waimanalo Public & School Library Celebrates 35th Anniversary on Feb. 27

Waimanalo Public & School Library, located at 41-1320 Kalanianaole Highway on the campus of Waimanalo Elementary and Middle School, will celebrate its 35th Anniversary with special performances, displays, and events on Wednesday, February 27 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.  The public is invited to attend this free event and the Library will be open during its normal Wednesday public service hours from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Featured performers will include

Halau Hula `O Kawaiho`omalu and Fun Fun the Clown.  Children's activities will be offered and the Library and Waimanalo community will present photo displays.

The Rotary Club of Windward Oahu Sunrise and Friends of Waimanalo Library are sponsoring Waimanalo Public & School Library's 35th Anniversary Celebration.  Refreshments will be served.

The 8,601 square foot Library, which opened on February 25, 1978, serves this small, friendly windward Oahu community.  The Waimanalo lifestyle is depicted in "Waimanalo Love Song," Guy Buffet's mural which has graced the front and side walls of the library since 1980.  It includes the likenesses of Gabby Pahinui, the Brothers Cazimero, Eddie Kamae and the Sons of Hawaii, as well as several library staff members enjoying a day at the beach.  The mural helps the library stand out, both on the campus and in the community, and is usually included in directions to the library.

Contact the Library as soon as possible if a sign language interpreter or other special accommodation is needed.  For more information, please call the Library at 259-2610.
