Lahaina Library will Close Temporarily for Renovation

Lahaina Public Library will close temporarily for an interior renovation project beginning Tuesday, August 14.  The book drop will be locked and not accessible from 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, August 11 through the duration of the project.  During this time, the Library's floor will be resurfaced, walls repainted, and new book shelves and circulation desk will be installed.

While Lahaina Public Library is closed, the Maui Bookmobile is scheduled to visit the Library on the following Fridays from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.:  August 31, September 14, 21, 28 and October 5.
Patrons may also visit these neighboring libraries: Wailuku Public Library (251 South High St.; telephone: 243-5766); Kahului Public Library (90 School St.; telephone: 873-3097); Makawao Public Library (1159 Makawao Ave.; telephone: 573-8785); or Kihei Public Library (35 Waimahaihai St.; telephone: 875-6833).  Please call these libraries for their current public service hours.

In addition, patrons may log-on to the HSPLS website:  www.librarieshawaii.org to:

* Browse the HSPLS Catalog for book titles, eBooks, digital audio books, and our wide variety of online databases which provide access to full-text materials from thousands of magazines, newspapers, journals, and other publications.

* Get answers to brief informational reference questions by using the "Ask-A-Librarian" E-Reference service: select the "Information" tab, click on "E-Reference" and follow the simple instructions.  A library card is not required to use this service.

Lahaina Public Library is tentatively scheduled to reopen in October 2012.  Patrons may call the Library's answering machine at 662-3950 for recorded updates on the project.  An announcement will be made when the reopening date is confirmed.
