The primary objective of the Friends of the Library of Hawai‘i is to maintain free public libraries in the State of Hawai‘i, to promote extension of library services throughout the State of Hawai‘i, and to increase the facilities of the public library system of Hawai‘i by securing materials beyond the command of the ordinary library budget.

Approvals

1. Once you press submit, a copy of this grant request will be sent to Friends of the Library of Hawaiʻi, to your email, and, depending on the total request amount, the form will auto-send to your section head (>$500) or the State Librarian (>$1,000). If you are not the Branch Director/Manager, your confirmation email must be forwarded to them for approval. Approval emails may be sent to admin@FLHhawaii. org: Please see the guidelines on the previous page for more information on the approvals process. 2. Once approvals are received, the grant request will be reviewed by the FLH Executive Director. If the grant request is approved, an email confirmation will go to the requesting librarian and they will be asked to confirm the payment instructions. A check(s) will then be issued and sent out based on the payment instructions. 3. The requesting library branch must submit to the FLH office any receipts or any documents, such as W9 (for performers/contractors), to support the grant request.

The Friends of the Library of Hawai‘i is a nonprofit organization whose primary objective is to maintain free public libraries in the State of Hawai‘i, to promote extension of library services throughout the State of Hawai‘i and to increase the facilities of the public library system of Hawai‘i by securing materials beyond the command of the ordinary library budget. Other objectives are to focus attention on libraries and to encourage and accept, by bequest or gift, donations of books, manuscripts, money, and other appropriate material that can enrich the cultural opportunities available to the people of Hawai‘i.
