To purchase a facility to house our organization for the next 140 years . . .We need your help!
FLH is renting an 8,000 SF warehouse that is bursting at the seams! Industrial warehouse space on O‘ahu is disappearing and we need to secure a location for a stable future.
For over 20 years, FLH was housed in a library warehouse in Kaka‘ako, but both the libraries and FLH were displaced in 2015 due to planned redevelopment. This has added a substantial rent burden to the organization that decreases the amount we are able to give back to the libraries.

Our facility enables us to:
- Recycle over 500,000 books & media
- This makes a green organization as well as a literacy organization
- Re-donate unsaleable books to over 25 other non-profit and educational groups
- Prisons
- Hospitals
- Schools
- Rotary initiatives
- Libraries in the greater Pacific region
- Store books & media for our 3 Book Sales & our BOOKS at Markʻs Bookstore
- Storage for 90+ pallets
- Our sales raise 50% of our revenues for Hawai‘iʻs 51 public libraries
- A year-round location for more than 75 amazing year-round volunteers
- Includes offices for our four full-time staff.

We have identified a 13,000+ SF facility that can house our operation and are working to submit an offer. We need your help to reach our goal by March! Help us to continue our library program support and continue to provide affordable books to our community!
Funding Goal – $3,000,000
In-hand – $1,420,000
